Unless you are a seasoned thrifter or reseller, you probably didn’t realize that you can make money from buying things on sale at retail stores and reselling them online for a profit. There are many different ways to do it but Marshalls, TJMaxx, and Homegoods are literally gold mines of things to sell on Amazon, eBay, Poshmark and the like.

In the past, I would buy those really discounted designer clothes for myself, wear them for a while and resell them online as excellent used clothing pieces. But, now I am doing that and adding items that are brand new with tags.

Usually, each season change, all of the retail stores start marking their items down and these discount designer stores are no exception. Marshalls has their “yellow tags” which are the holy grail of discount shopping – especially when you find things like $1 Vineyard Vines pants and a $1,100 Rag & Bone Coat for $199.

Try to Double or Triple the Money You Spend When Reselling

Throughout my trip, I am constantly looking up items on my cell phone to see what they recently sold for on eBay, currently selling for on Amazon or on the retail sites. Sometimes they aren’t a great deal because the item can be purchased on the retailers website on clearance for the same price in the store. Unless it is a HIGHLY desirable item, I stay clear of it. My general rule of thumb is being able to double or triple my money at a minimum on each item. For thrifting items, if I can make more than $10-$15 and sell it quickly, that’s another goal. You can get some amazing things on these trips. In this video, I showed you what I found and then at the end of the month, I will show you what sold, my profit and anything I ended up returning to the store. 1. Hi, great video! i want to do something similar but i want to focus on selling home decor items. Since my husband lives in Nigeria, i am hoping to sell my items there (we are lacking in this dept) I am most nervous that i will not be able to restock great finds since homegoods and the likes almost never restock the same type of products! Any tips/ideas for me in this area?
